Enabling Auto Printing

Auto-printing saves you having to manually print a document after uploading a consignment to Mainfreight. After a successful document upload with no errors, not only will the documents be automatically uploaded to Mainstreet, consignment notes and labels will automatically print to the printers you have assigned in your Freman setup. Remote printing will mean Freman only needs to be opened to correct an error or make an amendment to your account and consignments.

It is important to note that remote printing will be configured to your Freman printer settings so any changes made in Freman will reflect in how your remote printing behaves.

In order to utilise the auto printing in MPT, you will need to install MPT as "remote". The following will cover installing MPT as remote and configuring to automatically print EDI files when received.

Installing MPT – as Remote

Installing MPT as remote will allow documents that come in through EDI to automatically print.

For remote to work properly, you will need to get a file from Mainchain which will allow your computer to know which documents to print. Simple steps to get this file will be detailed below:

Generating Auto Print Configuration (MDPServiceConfig.json) file

This file is what allows Mainchain to tell your computer which documents to print.

A)   Open Mainchain and login with specific user and navigate to “Admin – Mainchain Printing Tool Config”

B) You do not need to change anything, simply click "Create File".

A file called "MDPServiceConfig.json" will be generated and downloaded.

C) Copy the downloaded file into the MDP folder which can be found under services (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mainchain\Mainchain Printing Tool\Services\MDP). You can paste this into your explorer tool for easier access

D) Restart your computer.

Consignment notes should now be automatically printed when being received through EDI. The computer which you have installed MPT as remote on will need to be turned on and connected to the internet in order for the automatic printing tool to take effect.
